Do you find yourself sitting at a desk for most of the day, typing away on the computer?

If so, you might also find that your weight is increasing. Sure, age and a slowing metabolism has something to do with that. But, if you are not very active, you can expect your weight to increase regardless of your age.

What is an office worker to do?

Start by making time to exercise every day at work. By exercise, I'm not necessarily suggesting you spend your lunch hour working out at the local gym - though that is not a bad idea. Instead, at the very least make an effort to get away from your desk regularly and walk. If the office space you work at is part of a large organization, walk the perimeter of the site, inside or outside. Are there stairs where you work? If so, walk those steps every chance you get. If you work in a smaller office setting, then get outside during your lunch hour for a walk.

Plan your meals and stick with your eating plan. Consider bringing in your lunch to work instead of going out for lunch. Besides the obvious benefit to reducing your spending, you can plan on exactly what you are going to eat instead of guessing what to pile on your plate in front of the all you can eat buffet. While you are at it, plan on what snacks to eat. It can be very easy to walk down to the vending machine and be lured into the call of the candy. Resist, leave your wallet in your car if you must.

Get a good; correction, a great night's sleep every night. Making sure you body and mind is rested and energetic will do wonders for your body and its ability to process the food you do consume. Waking up in the morning and starting the day with a low sugar, wholesome breakfast keeps you from craving snacks later in the morning.

Office workers can stay in shape by minimizing eating, exercising moderately, and sleeping well.
