Microsoft Office Outlook or simply Outlook is a program that is available for Windows users. It is an information manager used by a lot of people for personal and business purposes. Most of the time, this is utilized as an email application but it also includes other features such as a Task Manager, Calendar, Contact Manager, web browsing, journal and even for note taking. For those using this application for personal purposes, they can utilize this as a stand alone program. Meanwhile, most of the individuals that make use of this for their business exploit the program using Microsoft SharePoint Server or Microsoft Exchange Server so that they can get in touch with multiple users.

Microsoft Outlook is a pretty interesting program and very useful as well. There are third party applications that you can integrate with Outlook such as for the Blackberry phones and other software for Internet communication. So, if you have been using MS Outlook for years now, you will know that you can import items here. So, what happens when you have duplicate items that you have imported? If you want to remove them, here is an easy way. Basically the duplicate items occur when you have turned off the duplicate detection in the program. In addition, you may have added the item as a duplicate contact. Still, if this is your problem, you can easily remove duplicate items on MS Outlook.

If you are using the 2002 or 2007 version, click on the View menu and select the "Current View" option. By clicking there, you will be able to change the view of the folder into a table type display. With Outlook 2003, you will have to click on the "Arrange By" option at the View menu. Now, select Current View. In the table, you can right click on the heading of the column and select Field Chooser. Pick "All (name of the item) fields." You can drag the field you have modified to the table heading.

Make sure that the duplicate items have their own unique date that is different from the original items. If this is true, you can click on the heading to sort the field that you have selected. From here, you can check the duplicated items and you can delete them if you want. Scroll down for some more of your contact list if there are still some items that you want to delete. Hold down the SHIFT key as you click on the last item that you want to remove. Now, you can press delete to delete all those selected items.

Outlook duplicate items can easily be removed as the user prefers to do so. Also, you can avoid this instance by turning on the duplicate detection feature. This way, you will not have to manually delete the items. Microsoft Outlook will identify them for you and you will not enter the duplicate items yourself. You can also choose not to delete the imported items in your Outlook application if you want.
