It is reported that this standard requires new television sets sold in California to reduce electricity consumption by 2011 should be 33%, 49% reduction by 2013. The standard affects only the screen size of less than equal to 58 inches TV. For example, a 42-inch screen, power consumption, 2011 will be less than 183 watts to 2013 not more than 115 watts. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PacificGas & Electric) estimated that after 10 years, the standards would reduce three million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, more than 1000 kinds of sales in the U.S. market model has reached the TV standard in 2011, and its low cost does not exceed the energy efficiency of products. The implementation of new standards will not affect existing customers already have or are in the retail store shelves, TV, shops will not be banning the sale of existing stocks of the old TV.

LCD TV Association. In the past 30 years, and other parts of the United States increased 40% energy consumption compared to California's per capita electricity consumption remains unchanged. Recently, the California economy by the U.S. Energy Efficiency Committee (ACEEE) named the United States energy-efficient state.
