Both animals and human beings are affected by the herpes virus, which is characterized as a variety of illnesses. Herpes can result in incurable lifelong infections, which is really alarming. The main cause for herpes is herpesveridae family and all other viruses that come under herpesveridea.

Herpes simplex virus type 1

Herpes simplex virus type 1, or HSV-1, is among the herpes viruses which stays dormant within nerve cells; it is the cause behind oral herpes or cold sores. Consequently some skin symptoms are experienced at the nerve area where the virus is dormant. This herpes virus is transmitted when you share eating utensils or lipstick or by touching the affected skin. Individuals tainted by means of this germ are able to feel indications like a blazing or else itchy sensation before the eruption of wintry sores. This virus can infect people with weak immune systems even though the cold sores may have disappeared.

Herpes simplex virus type 2

The herpes simplex virus type 2, or HSV-2, is the cause of genital herpes. Herpes simplex virus 2, known as HSV-2, can be passed from one person to another through skin contact with the person affected by it. HSV-2 resembles HSV-1 for the reason that it turns out to be dormant subsequent to the nerve cells that have been tainted. Just as with HSV-1, the skin surrounding the nerves that have been affected may exhibit blistering.

Varicella zoster

VZV, which is an ancronym for Varicella zoster will cause you to suffer chickenfox and shingles. Varicella zoster is similar to HHV-1 and HHV-2 which becomes latent within the nerve cells. Only those who have never contracted chickenpox will become infected by VZV. The virus is contacted through coughing, sneezing or from the chickenpox sores. Chickenpox is more itchy than shingles but less severe.

Epstein-Barr

HHV-4 is another name for Epstein-Barr. It is a cancer-causing virus and one of the most common ones to affect humans. In fact, in the United States almost 50% of all five year old children and about 90% to 95% of adults show signs of infection. When transmitted during childhood, the virus does not show any symptoms however, in the case of young adults, HHV-4 can result in mononucleosis. Some strong evidences suggest that the virus has a function in the pathogenesis of diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus and dermatomyositis.

Cytomegalovirus

Herpes Virus 5 in humans also refers as cytomegalovirus. Similar to other herpes viruses, HCMV has the characteristic of staying dormant in the human body for a long period of time. It is considered as a very common virus which can be found in all geographic locations and generally infects about 50% to 70% of the adult population in the United States. But it typically does not cause any symptoms. In the case of people who are HIV positive the disease can cause visual impairment and a number of other problems.

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus is formally known as HHV-8. It is known to lead to Kaposi's sarcoma, which is a type of skin cancer. People with aids are affected by Kaposi's sarcoma.

Understanding what forms of herpes virus exist will go a long way toward helping a person avoid contracting them.
