One of the most dramatic changes in the mobile phone market in recent years, in my opinion, is not the quality of the high end handset with all of the latest features, but the quality and value for money that you can get at the lower end of the price scale. These days you really don't need to spend a huge amount of money to get a really great product. So here is my pick of three of the best value for money handsets on the market today, with a short review of each one.

Nokia 2630

Nokia has always been a reliable manufacturer with great deals on basic handsets and this one is no different. It has an FM radio, which for me is a good thing as like to have some kind of entertainment on my phone, and it also comes with a basic camera that is good enough for taking funny pictures on a night out and so on. Other features include GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth, an 11MB memory.

Motorola W156

As far as I am aware the Motorola W156 is the cheapest pay as you go mobile phone handset you can buy. Until I started doing the research for this article I had no idea that you could buy anything for such a low price It comes with an fm radio, some basic games, and allows you to download polyphonic ringtones, but apart from that its stripped right down. But if you basically just want to make calls and send text messages and aren't bothered about anything else, you can buy this handset for the kind of money most people spend every week on calls.

Sony Ericsson T303

This is the most expensive of the 3 phones that I have chosen to review in this article, but I think that it is without doubt the best value for money of them all. If you are looking for the maximum useful functions at the best possible price, then I would say that this is the best option for you.

Incldued with this phone you will get a 1.3 Mega Pixel Camera with a four times digital zoom function, an 8 MB memory and USB socket, GPRS and Bluetooth, both an fm radio and an mp3 player, polyphonic ringtones and a quite attractive looking handset with a decent quality colour display which, unlike the other, doesn't look like a cheap phone
