Smart Engine Antivirus is a new fake spyware program on the scene that is infecting thousands of unfortunate internet users every day. It is doing so through free media downloads. An unsuspecting user downloads a video file, for example, and within days experiences computer slowdown, freezing, and pop-ups warning against a list of found viruses. Many of these users are tricked into paying for a "full version" of Smart Engine, and serious theft of money or identity theft can result.
