Link Building is a process of getting content specific links for a website from trusted and secures websites and vice versa. This process not only helps in increasing traffic for the website, but also helps in gaining popularity as well as higher ranking in search engine directories.

Here are the types of Link Building:


1. One-Way Link- In this type of Link Building, linking takes place in a single way only. It means when a link is supplied from website A to website B, then B does not have to return back any links to A. It is also called Inbound Link Building .


2. Two-Way Link- In this type of Link Building, links of websites, that are mostly similar or familiar in content, are exchanged between two trusted websites who shares the same business interest with an aim of increase website traffic and link popularity. It is also known as Reciprocal Link Building.


3. Three-Way Link-This is basically a type of Two-Way Link Building, but with a twist. Here link is exchanged between two owners, one of who owns two different websites. Let’s assume owner Jerry owns a website A, whereas owner Tom owns two websites B and C respectively. Now when Jerry sends link for Tom’s website C, then Tom in return may send link from website B for Jerry’s A. Here linking, if you watch carefully, is done by using the One-Way Link Building principle.


4. Authority Link- This type of Link Building helps in getting links directly from trusted sources that would be most secure and legally acceptable to work with. For e.g.: DMOZ, the Yahoo! Directory, and Wikipedia might be considered obvious authorities and trust seed sites. It can be done for good search engine ranking, increasing link popularity and attracting more traffic to self-owned website.



5. Article Link - This is an effective way to get some good authority links from high profile sites. They’ll appreciate great content in return for the exposure and link popularity you’ll receive. The better the site is, the higher quality content they will require.


6. Directory Link- This process of link-building refers to building of links only with some preferred well-known directories like Google, Bing, Dmoz, MSN, Yahoo, etc in order to find niche directories.


7. RSS/ Blog Aggregated Link – This way also is a very useful way in getting links. The main advantage is that a lot of same content specific links can be found in bunches. This helps in picking up links without much effort. However, it’s always better to check links before picking up as Blog Aggregated Links also features various explicit illegal links also.


8. Press Release Link – This is a type where you may get some valuable links but the possibility is very less. It is basically not preferred and is not a common and popular choice among website owners.
