Deltek Inc. is a software company that has been in operation since 1983. It published its first accounting application, called the Deltek Government Contracting System, in 1984. The business has over one thousand six hundred employees and is a leader in the field of accounting solutions for project-based businesses. In 2007, the company joined NASDAQ and became a publicly traded enterprise for the first time since its inception.
Unlike other business software manufacturers, Deltek has always focused their product line to cater to a specific industry niche, this in contrast with their competitors whose offerings are designed around size or employee number considerations. Their services provide the unique requirements needed by enterprises that operate on a project by project basis. Their most common customers are government contractors, architects, engineers, construction firms and miscellaneous consultants.
The company currently has three main software business solutions available on the market. Each of them is targeted at a different sector of their solitary customer base.
Deltek Cospoint
Cospoint is the best selling type of Deltek accounting software. It is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program specifically designed to handle the heavy processing workloads that come with large government projects. It allows government contractors to track projects individually as well as micro-manage costs and expenses with comprehensive contract, line item or task order controls. It also conforms to the procurement law statutes enforced by Cost Accounting Standards and the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
Deltek GCS Premier
The GCS Premier is the modern descendant of the first Deltek accounting software ever produced. The System1 program, which later evolved from the Government Contracting System family of software, is the immediate predecessor of the GCS Premier. It was designed with small to mid-sized contractors in mind. Like the more robust Cospoint, the application also adheres closely to the mandated guidelines enforced by various US regulatory bodies.
Deltek Vision
Vision is the companys first attempt at Deltek accounting software that isnt intended for government contractor use. Engineers, architects, design firms and other project/consultancy based enterprises are the target market for this application. It marries Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities with conventional accounting functions like payroll entry, resource management and project control.
