Renewable energy technology is applied to harness the renewable energy sources in order to utilize them in the best possible way. Greater emphasis is given to renewable energy for it has zero impact on the environment which at present is reeling under a severe problem of CO2 emissions.
Renewable Energy technology involves the use of various specially designed equipments such as air source heat pumps, water source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, cylinders, fan convectors, underfloor heating and so on. A brief note on each of them follows.
Heat pumps are designed to capture the energy available in a particular source and channelize to its effective use. Air Source Heat pumps collect the heat energy from the air and use it to hot water, heating and air conditioning.
Cylinders are often relied upon to pump heat from outside of the building rather than within the building and hence prove to be cost effective. If they are supplied with mechanical power when fitted with a heat pump, they can be used for heating or cooling. Cylinders fitted with a heat pump are ideal for domestic heating and air conditioning.
Fan convectors perform a similar function to radiators which are used in central heating system. Fan convectors when used with heat pumps give high outputs despite space constraints. You can go for well developed fan convectors which are equipped with integral thermostats. They are available in wall mounted and plinth heater models.
Ground Source Heat Pumps are effectively used to collect the heat which is located below the ground at a relatively constant temperature. The heat so collected can be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems and even hot water. By installing a carbon footprint, you can enjoy lower carbon emissions; no fuel deliveries required and enjoy almost zero maintenance heating system.
Solar Photovoltaic â This form of renewable energy source can be used to harness free and abundantly available zero carbon electricity from the sun. A solar photovoltaic panel comprises of tile or module which contains photovoltaic cells which convert light into electricity. They are quite effective on cloudy days and hence relied upon to produce electricity proving to be a reliable investment. The benefits being a great reduction in energy costs, protection against future energy price increase, enjoy Feed in Tariffs through the Clean Energy Cashback scheme
Solar Thermal is a Renewable energy technology which collects solar energy within a copper pipework which is in connected with an aluminium absorber sheet. The lightweight aluminum absorber sheet enables optimum heat transfer. The solar thermal system provides almost 100% of energy required during summer months while in winter months almost 10 â 15% can obtained apart from other existing sytems.
Underfloor Heating â This technology is relatively invisible and silent form nevertheless provides heat effectively. When in use it occupies turns the entire floor area into a large low surface temperature radiator. This underfloor heating is just right for a distributing heat obtained through a heat pump. The underfloor heating works best with a screed floor construction and a suitable floor covering.
Water Source Heat Pumps â These pumps are used to collect heat energy from streams and lakes after prior permission and approval. Heat pumps can be used to pump river water and obtain the required heat energy, but this is possible only if the water is above 5 to 8°C. At the same time the installation procedure has to be done in proper manner for attaining its maximum benefits. The factors which deter the working of the water heat source pumps are oxygen, acidity and impurities. If expert consultation and advice is seeked for the installation and working of water source pumps, they are extremely cost effective and eco friendly.
