When it comes to selecting a satellite television provider, everyone knows there are two choices in America - Dish Network and Direct TV. While you may think that the packages and programming are basically the same when reviewing the two choices, in actuality there are many more options in building your television package with one of the providers - Dish Network.
Now that does not mean that Dish TV satellite service is automatically the superior choice when it comes to picking your provider, it simply means that if you are a bit more budget conscience or do not need every service offered, you can strip down your services a bit with Dish TV. So how can this be done?
One area to consider is local programming. With Direct TV, all packages include your local channels where available. With Dish Network, you have the option of declining the local channels if you don't want or need them. This will save you $ 5 per month, and while that isn't a lot of money, it does add up to $ 60 a year.
Another area in where there is a quite a bit more flexibility is with the high definition content available through Dish Network. With Direct TV, you have to get one of their base packages like the Choice or Premier package, then add on HD programming for $ 10 per month. Dish Network offers the same option, but they also offer programming packages that are made up of only HD content.
With these Turbo HD packages, you can all of the networks that provide content in high definition. Sure you will miss out on all the fluff, things like home shopping channels and those that play infomercial all day. The good thing is that you will save quite a bit of money over the typical Direct TV or cable television package.
