An online survey has been recently conducted by Ameriprise Financial and Harris Interactive, with the participation of 10,028 adults ages from 40 to 75 in 30 metropolitan areas. Financial preparations including savings habits and retirement needs calculations, personal plans, and level of confidence workers feel about their ability to retire are taken into account in the survey. The following are details of the top ranked cities where older workers are preparing for retirement.


 



Nashville, the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee, is a center for health care, music, banking and transportation industries. It takes the third position for boomers to retire because people feel optimistic about their ability to retire.


 




Financial advisers recommend retirees to spend 30 years living in retirement in this city.


 



San Diego is the fifth-wealthiest city in the United States, according to Forbes. 64 percent of San Diego inhabitants are about to retire and plan to stay in this sunny California city after exiting the workforce.


 




San Diego ranks sixth primarily because of its residents’ confidence about their ability to retire.


 




83 percent of residents in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area consider themselves retirement savers. The percentage of workers plan to stay in the area after exiting the workforce is 71 percent.


 



Bostonian residents are saving for their retirement (76 percent). 32 percent have followed professional’s financial advice while the rest have determined the necessary amount of money for their exited plan.

Denver is nicknamed the “Mile-High City" for its elevation of 5,280 feet above sea level. Mo77 percent of residents in this Mile-High City are saving for retirement. More than a third plan to travel after exiting the workforce.


 




The Denver metropolitan area is the most populous city within a radius centered in the city.


 




79 percent of Raleigh and Durham residents are saving for retirement. Around 12 percent of those surveyed wish to go back to colleges in order to continue their education.


 




46 percent of Baltimore residents plan to leave the town after retirement.
