There are many parasites that are known to feed on human blood. Some of them include lice, mosquitoes, fleas, bed bugs, ticks, mites, triatoma, and babesia.
Parasites are organisms that draw nourishment from another organism, defined as the host, in order to survive. Animals and humans can receive an infection from the parasites. Many parasites live outside the host, as in the skin or hair, but there are also parasites, like Babesia, that live inside the host's body. Parasites may thrive on the host's blood or tissue. In order to avoid infection, it is quite significant to be aware of which are the bacterias that flourish on human blood.
Lice
Not surprisingly, lice are among the most common parasite known to man. In their lifetime, they prey on human beings. These tiny wingless six legged insects are called lice. Generally the infest lives on a human's scalp however they can also be found in other parts of the body like the eyelashes and even in the pubic area.
Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes need a fresh supply of warm-blooded victims. Mosquitoes are also regarded as pests. To pierce the skin of their hosts, the mouth parts of a mosquito is adapted. Their saliva is an anti-coagulant, allowing them to continuously suck the blood of the victim. Dengue hemorrhagic fever and the West Nile Virus are the diseases which are known to be transported by a few of the mosquitoes.
Fleas
These reddish brown flat insects are commonly known as fleas. They have the ability to jump over 100 times their own height, which translates to about a foot high. Pets are the most common victims, but humans can become infested as well.
Bed bugs
Bed bugs are tiny, brown-colored insects known to infest old mattresses, linens and other cool and dark areas. These creatures are nocturnal and during dawn they generally feed on their hosts.
Ticks
Ticks meld to the skin on their victims By injecting their pinchers, they begin to gorge themselves on blood. Typically they leave after feeding off of the host. Ticks are known to carry infections and many serious illnesses like Lyme disease.
Mites
It is a known fact that the mites burrow deep into the hair follicles which are located on the skin of the human beings. They can result in skin problems like acne as well. Aged people are more prone to mite infection.
Triatoma
Predatory insects from the Reduviidae family include the blood-sucking organisms triatoma. Kissing bugs or tritoma are referred to this as they often bite sleeping humans on the lips. Another word for this is soft tissue. Certain triatoma species have been found out to transmit a fatal disease called the Chagas disease.
Babesia
The Babesiosis ailment is caused by a parasite of the blood, known as Babesia. Symptoms similar to malaria crop up in infected humans. Sometimes cases of Babesiosis are diagnosed as malaria because of this particular reason.
