If you download music, movies or software from the internet, chances are that you have a Trojan Horse on your system. So, a Trojan Horse remover is a must (I personally recommend NoAdware).

Actually, it's possible that you don't even notice that there is a Trojan horse on your computer. But that doesn't mean that everything is alright. Because normally it's the goal of the hackers that you don't notice the presence of a Trojan horse and accordingly don't do anything to remove it so the virus can give them access to your computer(your passwords and credit card number!).

On the other hand, there is malware designed to create countless popups in your browser - with ads to websites that the hackers run by themselves (like a malware remover or an online casino. Don't download anything from these sites - it's all scam designed to get your money.

However, you should do a scan with an antivirus software installed on your system (if you don't have any, get NoAdware) every now and then. The problem here is that in some cases the software won't be able to find or remove a Trojan horse.

Let's take the case that something seems to wrong with your computer (for example it run slower, the download speed has changed, some programs quit working or popups come out of nowhere). If that's the case, you can try to remove the Trojan Horse manually:

1) Take a look at the Windows Task Manager (a list of "all" the programs running on your computer). Are there any operations running that you don't recognize? The problem here is that not all activities on your system are shown in the task manager (=windows attempt to keep it light & simple). So if you can't recognize any suspicious activities in the task bar,

2) Open the System Information Utility (msinfo32.exe). You will it at: C: > program files > common > microsoft shared > msinfo. The edge over the task manager: you will see almost every process running on your system. Again, check the list of the running tasks for activities you can't classify. Look up the paths and use an antivirus software to scan the .exe-and .dll files or delete the objects manually (but do a back-up of your system and look up the files you want to delete on Google first).
