Losing fat is about having a healthy lifestyle in general. It is not just about diet and nutrition alone. It is about doing a little bit of everything like watching what you eat and incorporating some workouts in between. You don't have to exercise six times a week. But it all depends on your goal and how fast you want to lose weight. Your fat loss goals should be realistic. If you push yourself to the limit then you will end up going right back to the old habits. It is about change so without further a due let's get started.
Diet and Nutrition
First thing you should consider is going on a fat loss diet. The diet should not be too strict but at the same time you cannot be too generous to yourself. The diet should consist of more natural foods and a lot less processed foods. Eat more natural foods like fruits, vegetables, eggs, lean steak, low fat milk, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, fish, nuts, and chicken. Cut out any unhealthy foods like cheese burgers, fries, ice cream, sweets, and basically any fast food.
As far as portion sizes go you should be aiming for five to six small meals a day. Eat a meal about every three hours so you do not get too hungry, but at the same time you do not want to splurge. So each meal should be around 300 to 500 calories depending on how big and old you are. These meals should include variety of the natural foods I discussed above. Try having a serving of fruits and vegetables each meal with a good source of protein and healthy fats. A great example would be a tuna fish sandwich with lettuce on whole wheat bread.
Exercise
You don't need to overdo the workout routines when just starting out. But the best way to start losing fat is by exercising at least twice a week. Each workout should be at least twenty minutes long. You can start with basics like body weight exercises before moving on to weights. But if you decide to start weight training right away you want to start off slow so you do not strain yourself. Try doing body weight squats and push ups.
As far as cardio goes for people who want to lose fat. Start off slow before getting too crazy. Start going for brisk walks and jogs for about twenty minutes each time. A great form of cardio for beginners is jump roping because it is not as rough on the knees.
This article is demonstrated for people who have been away from the gym for a while or are just starting to get into the world of fat loss. By using some of the fat loss tips I outlined above you should be able to start a routine for yourself. Just always remember not to overdo it at first. Good luck.
