The Nokia C7 is one of the latest range of phones from the brand to come fitted with the latest V3.0 Symbian operating system. A revamp in terms of design and a huge range of new feature look set to propel this model to greatness.
One area where the Nokia C7 does really score very highly is with regards to its high quality screen. Nokia have chosen to utilise AMOLED technology, resulting in not only a naturally rich quality, but also a physically wafer thin display, helping reduce the overall depth of the phone. Sporting an impressive 360 x 640 resolution and a massive colour palette of 16 million, despite not quite being a Retina display, this is a close to it as you will get, in what is ultimately a more mid range handset. Nokia have incorporated their own technology in the display which is called Clear Black. This transparent layer which is added to the screen during its construction helps viewing in sunlight and also deepens the dark colours so they do not look washed out. The screen is a capacitive touchscreen, meaning it responds to the slightest touch from the user, unlike resistive kinds which rely on pressure. Multi touch is supported so for zooming the excellent and favoured pinch and zoom method can be applied, and the fitted accelerometer chip flips everything into glorious widescreen mode when required. Overall the phone is surprisingly streamline, with overall dimensions of 117.3 x 56.8 x 10.5mm, and the weight maintains this trend at just 130 grams.
Anybody looking to shoot video or take photographs on their phone will love the Nokia C7. At 8 million pixel resolution, the still camera facility is better than what is found on many competitors models, however a camera needs to be backed up by a host of other features, so the inclusion of geo tagging and face detection is very welcome. A dual LED flash also makes those photographs where lighting is poor look so much better. At a rate of 25 frames per second and a resolution of 720P, the quality of the video capture falls into the category known as High Definition. This gives superb results, whether viewed on a pc or on the phones own screen. At 8GB, the phones own internal memory may be a little on the low side for serious vide enthusiasts, but this is easily expanded to up to 32GB thanks to a micro SD card slot.
The Nokia C7 offers a perfect blend of looks, features and specification, with the result being a phone that will appeal to newcomers to the smartphone world as well as existing owners.
