Whether you are offering your own products or are an affiliate for someone else's product, the whole purpose of building a list is obviously so you can continue to offer them products that you would like them to purchase. Many marketers have a tendency to forget about the prime area they can first introduce a product offer to their new subscribers. This would be on their thank-you page right after a subscriber has opted-in.
There's no rule saying you have to save your product offers for your follow-up emails. You can, and should promote some of your offers right from your thank-you page. Doing this will start to get your subscribers in the mindset that you do offer products for sale, and that you want them to get the best value they can from you.
Selling products on your thank- you page isn't a new concept. But many people aren't bold enough to use this tactic because they think their new subscriber will opt-out just as quickly as they opted-in. In my opinion, this couldn't be farther from the truth! You should take every opportunity to get people in front of your product offers in order to maximize sales conversions.
So how do you go about selling products on your thank-you page? First of all, after the new subscriber opts-in to your list, they should be redirected to a page that has the download link for whatever incentive was offered. There should be an introduction from you, along with a short message thanking them. Below that, you can offer them a low priced paid product which compliments the free incentive offer they just opted-in for, and provides excellent value.
When using this technique, you want to make the offer time sensitive. Make sure the product offer is limited to a certain number of days and the subscriber understands that if they don't take advantage of it, they will lose the offer for good. This builds urgency in the mind of your subscriber so they will take advantage of your offer as quickly as possible.
You also need to make sure that you follow through with the time sensitive offer. In other words, if you say it will be gone in seven days, make sure that if your subscriber goes to buy it on the eighth day, the offer to them is closed. Although, you can offer the product at a later time down the road, or even at a higher price. For instance, you could tell your subscriber that the price will be going up on the eighth day so they need to take advantage of the discounted price within the seven day period.
After giving your subscribers your product offer on the thank-you page, you can then follow up with your email sequence and ask them if they have taken a look at your offer and that they only have a certain amount of time left before it goes away forever.
In doing all of this, you need to remember that most subscribers will not buy your product when they first see the offer. It usually takes seven to ten times of being exposed to an offer before someone to makes a buying decision. But remember, I said "most" people won't buy right off of your thank-you page. I didn't say all. And that's why it's always a good idea to offer your front-end product to them immediately.
