We all worry from time to time, and as moms we may feel it's our right because we have so many responsibilities. Â We may feel subconsciously that worrying may prevent bad things from happening. Unfortunately it can be counterproductive when it becomes excessive worrying which can affect your body in way that may surprise you.Â
With excessive worrying about your children, bills, how to pay for college, a big deadline at work and the list goes on can affect your daily life. Your relationships, marriage, sleep, appetite, lifestyle habits and job performance can be negatively impacted.  Your mind and body is in over drive leading you to feel anxious which can result in you seeking relief in harmful lifestyle habits such as overeating, eating junk food and over exercising which can cause  extreme mood swings, panic attacks and unrealistic fears which can make you physically ill.
When we have a big project to complete at work or the family vacation is coming up which means ensuring the vacation funds is on track or the family budget needs to be revisited. Worrying a little or feeling anxious can be helpful to prepare you for these types of situations. Fortunately there are things you can do including lifestyle changes to alter the way you respond to challenges so that you can have a more harmonious mind, body and spirit.Â
Â
Exercise: Studies show that regular exercise even just fifteen minutes a day  will improve your mental outlook, reduce your stress and train your body to deal with challenges in your life more positively.
Â
Be Grateful: When you take a few minutes out of your day to write down or think of all the great things in your life the worries seem to be less stressful and more manageable.
Â
Eat a healthy, balanced diet: Stress and worry can create a cycle of unhealthy eating to relieve the stress and worry. Keep your health in mind and instead reach for some fruit or drink some water with lemon and count to ten slowly. If you still feel the urge to eat reach for fresh fruit or slice deli meat for a healthy snack.
Â
Be Aware: When you start to feel your body and tense and your mind go in over drive give yourself ten minutes to worry then move on and let them go.Â
Â
Learn to relax: Relaxation can reduce your worrying and stress and will increase your ability to manage stress. Common relaxation techniques include deep breathing, meditation, listening to calm music and activities like yoga and tai chi.
