In simple terms, Numerology is the method by which you derive significant numbers from your name and date of birth.

With these numbers, some people believe you can predict or explain character, personality and one's Life Destiny. You can recognise and reveal potential about yourself, and they can warn you against incompatible lovers!

Pythagoras, the philosopher and scientist from ancient Greece, has often been regarded as the person who first applied cosmic and spiritual significance to numbers.

If the significance of these numbers is as important as many people believe, then each future day of your life is spent under the influence of what is known as your Life Path Number.

You derive your Life Path Number, in a simple way. The numbers in your date of birth are added together and reduced until you are left with a single digit. (Sometimes a number will be reduced to 11, 22 or 33. These Master Numbers are not reduced any further.)

For example, for someone who was born on the 17th June 1982, their date of birth would be written numerically as 6.17.1982 (in the US, or 17.6.1982 everywhere else).

Add the day, month and year together thus; 6+17+1982=2005.

Add each of these digit together 2+0+0+7=9.

The Life Path Number for this person would be 9.

You can use your Life Path Number to help you determine your Lucky Numbers. They can also be used to help you determine compatibility in your love life.

There are other numbers that can be derived using Numerology. You derive your Destiny Number from your birth name. Each letter is given a numerical equivalent, and the digits added together as with your Life Path Number, until reduced to one (or in the case of 11, 22 and 33) - two digits.

Many people use this number to help them choose their new baby's name, selecting or choosing one with a positive Destiny Number. This number will determine a person's life challenges and tasks, will determine their potential - and will map their Destiny.
