Do you find yourself always looking to other people to figure out what to do? Do you sink into depression and blame because you just can't figure out what you should be doing, and nobody else is helping you out? If things go wrong is it always because somebody else did something (or didn't do something?) If you're saying yes to any of these questions, you're giving away your personal power.

The only person who is going to make any difference in your life is you. And for you to make a difference in your own life, you need to take back your personal power. Stop giving it to others. It's yours, and only you can take it back - and only you can use it.

So just how do you take your personal power back? There are a few steps you should take.

Begin by looking at situations in a different light. You need to change the way you think about things because in thinking the way you do, you've been giving your power away. Stop placing blame on others. I'm not saying you should harshly attack yourself, either. But realize that everyone else is human, and they'll all make mistakes - just like you do. Let go of their mistakes. Look at a tough situation in the light of knowing that it's just that - a tough situation. It's yours to make what you will of it. Let go of the blame - and stop whining.

Realize that you make mistakes. Yes, you do. Again, don't beat yourself up over your mistakes or your failures. But do look at these situations with an open mind. There is a lesson in each failure and in each mistake. It may be a tiny lesson, but it's there. Use these lessons to plant seeds in your mind that will blossom into success - maybe even huge success.

Think about your desires, your goals, and your dreams. Now think about what you can do to get to those things. Stop. Don't think about all the reasons you can't achieve your dreams. And you certainly shouldn't sit there and think about all the people or circumstances that are preventing you from reaching your dreams. That's that old habit of giving your power away.

If you really want to see these goals and dreams slip away from you, then you can blame other people. If you really want to be in the same place you're at now five or ten years from now, blame other people. But if you sincerely want change, and want power over your own life, you need to get up and go get what you want - despite all the other people and tough situations in your life!

You've let go of blame, stopped whining, and accepted responsibility. You're learning from your mistakes and your failures. Now get up and take some action! Go do something to make yourself a better person. Go try something that will get you closer to a goal. Go fail a little! Make a mistake! Cause a blunder! Then learn from those failures. Fail fast, and fail forward - then take the lessons you learned and make your success. Keep at it. Persistence is key. Once you've taken back your personal power, don't give it up for anything. And do not stop trying. Persistence and responsibility will win the day for you, and by you.
