Napoleon was short

Napoleon was often said to be a short man but the rumor is not true because of two major reasons. Firstly, the misconception comes from difference between French feet and British feet. Actually, he was measured 5 French feet 2inches or 5 British feet 6.5inches or 1.69m after his death in 1821. It meant that Napoleon slightly taller than the average Frenchman of the 19th century. Besides, his height was also compared with the height of security guards who were high enough to protect him.

Napoleon was 1.69m high

The Vikings had horned helmets

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb

It is true when saying that Edison invented many things and was one of the most famous inventors of all time. However, it is wrong if people think the bulb was created by him because what he did was only to develop a bulb, which British man, Joseph Swan, had originally designed.

Thomas Edison only developed the bulb

Einstein got bad grades in school

Generations of children have been told that Einstein was bad at studying in school but they are wrong. Actually, the owner of Nobel Prize did very well in school, particularly in science and mathematics.

Einstein was an excellent student at school

Humans evolved from monkeys

“Human beings evolved from chimpanzees” is one of the most common misconceptions about Darwin’s evolution theory. In fact, Darwin and any respectable biologist never said this but he only focused that humans and chimpanzees were actually cousins because we shared about 94% of our DNA with them.

Human beings and chimpanzees evolved from a common ancestor, thought to be Sahelanthropus tchadensis around 7 million years ago
